1. About these terms
These terms apply when you buy steel and other goods from us, whether you order through this website or accept a quote from us. "We", "us" and "our" mean the company named above; "you" means the person or business buying from us. A "consumer" is an individual buying mainly for purposes outside their trade, business or profession; a "business customer" is anyone else.
If your quote also covers design, a site survey or erection of the steelwork, the scope, programme and site conditions for that work are set out in the quote, and these terms apply to the goods we supply as part of it. If the quote and these terms disagree, the quote wins. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
2. Quotes
Quotes are free and without obligation. A quote is valid for the period shown on it, or for 30 days from its date if no period is shown. We price from the drawings, calculations, dimensions and other information you give us, so please check them carefully: if they turn out to be wrong or incomplete, or you change them, we may need to change the price or the delivery date, and we will tell you before going ahead.
Unless your quote says that we are providing the structural design, you (or your engineer) remain responsible for the design, for the sizes and specification of the steel, and for any approvals your project needs. We make the goods to the drawings you approve.
3. How the contract is formed
When you press «Παραγγελία με υποχρέωση πληρωμής» at the end of our online checkout, or press «Accept quote» on a quote we have priced for you, you are making an offer to buy. The contract starts when we confirm the order to you by email. We may decline an order, for example if an item is no longer available or a price was shown in error; if we do, we will tell you and you will not be charged.
4. Made-to-order goods, changes and cancellation
Most of what we sell is made for you: beams cut to your lengths, and steel drilled, welded or fabricated to your drawings. We start that work once you have approved the drawings and paid any deposit your quote asks for.
- Consumers: the 14-day right to cancel does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, reg. 28). If we ever sell you standard, uncut stock items, you may cancel those within 14 days of delivery by telling us; you return them at your own cost and we refund what you paid for them, including standard delivery, within 14 days of getting them back.
- Everyone: if you want to change or cancel an order, tell us as soon as you can. Before we have started making your goods we will try to make the change at no cost. Once work has started, a change or cancellation may mean paying the costs we have already reasonably incurred, such as material bought or cut for you, and we will tell you what those are first.
5. Price and payment
- The price is the one shown at checkout or on the quote you accepted. Delivery is charged as shown there before you commit. If we spot an obvious pricing error before we confirm your order, we will contact you before going ahead.
- You can pay by the methods offered at checkout or on your order page; for bank transfers, please use the payment reference we give you.
- For quoted and fabricated work, the quote states any deposit and when the balance is due. We may hold back dispatch until we have received cleared payment of anything due.
- Business customers: if you pay late, we may charge interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 and pause further work or deliveries until you are up to date. If you dispute an invoice in good faith and tell us promptly, we will not charge interest on the disputed part while we resolve it; the rest remains payable on time.
6. Delivery
We deliver to the address agreed with you, on the date or in the slot we confirm. Unless we agree otherwise, a consumer order will be delivered within 30 days of our order confirmation (Consumer Rights Act 2015, s.28). Any other dates we give are our best estimate; we will tell you promptly if something is going to be late.
Please make sure our lorry can reach the site safely, that there is a clear and suitable place to set the steel down, that someone is there to receive it, and that you have any permits needed to unload on a road or pavement. If we cannot deliver because of a problem on your side, we may charge the reasonable cost of returning another day.
If you do not take delivery, or collect, within four weeks of our telling you the goods are ready, we may charge you a reasonable amount for storing them. If they are still not taken after eight weeks, we may, after giving you written notice, resell them, keep what you owe us (including storage) and refund you the rest.
7. Checking the goods on delivery
Please check the goods when they arrive. Tell us within 48 hours of delivery about any shortage or visible damage, ideally with photos and a note on the delivery paperwork, so we can put it right quickly by delivering what is missing, or by repairing, replacing or refunding the affected goods. Faults that could not reasonably have been seen on delivery should be reported as soon as you find them. For consumers, this request does not limit your statutory rights in section 8.
8. Quality of the goods and your rights
The goods will match their description and the specification agreed with you, be of satisfactory quality and be free from material defects. This does not cover normal wear and tear; damage from accidents, misuse, poor storage or installation by others; changes or repairs made without our agreement; or problems caused by drawings or information you gave us.
Consumers: under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you may be entitled to reject them for a full refund within 30 days of delivery, and after that to a repair or replacement, or, if that is not possible or does not fix the problem, to a price reduction or a refund.
Business customers: the terms implied by the Sale of Goods Act 1979 apply. If goods are faulty, we will repair or replace them or refund the price, at our option.
9. Risk and ownership
The goods are your responsibility from the moment they are delivered (or collected). They become yours only once we have received payment in full, including any delivery charge.
10. Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. If you are a business customer, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or opportunity, wasted time or management time, or any indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
11. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, transport or supply disruption, industrial action, or an epidemic. We will tell you as soon as we can and do what we reasonably can to limit the delay. If the delay is likely to be substantial, you may contact us to end the contract and receive a refund for anything you have paid for but not received.
12. Transferring the contract
You may transfer your rights under these terms to someone else only with our written agreement. We may transfer ours to another organisation; we will tell you if we do, and it will not reduce your rights.
13. Notices
Formal notices should go to us at the registered office or the email address shown at the top of this page, and to you at the address or email you gave us. An email counts as received 24 hours after it is sent, and a letter by first-class post three working days after posting.
14. Complaints and disputes
If something goes wrong, please contact us first; we aim to put things right directly. If we cannot resolve a complaint with you, we will tell you in writing whether we are prepared to refer it to a certified alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider and, if so, which one. You can also get free advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service. None of this limits your right to go to court.
15. General
- If a court decides that part of these terms is invalid, the rest stays in force.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order or accept your quote is the one that applies to it.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
